Hydraulic Power Unit – Light Duty

This Hydraulic Power Unit is designed to provide a source of hydraulic power for aircraft hydraulic system testing.  The unit has two independent systems that can provide up to 30gpm at 3620 psi each with open or closed loop operation.  The unit can be configured as a single system by combining the two system’s and flowing out one set of hoses.  The unit’s instrumentation includes 10in HMI screen, PLC controls with system pressure, boost/fill pressure, return pressure, flow meter, and temperature.  The unit is completely self-contained.

Fluid cooling is accomplished through air-to-oil heat exchanger and electric-driven fan.  The boost pump supplies a sufficient supply of fluid to the main pump.  The main pump is a pressure compensated, variable volume piston pump with load sense.  A flow meter in the pressure line to the aircraft assures accurate flow readings.  A bypass valve permits setting the main pump flow to a known value before supplying flow to the aircraft.  The same valve also permits the operator to reduce system pressure quickly in case of emergency.

The power unit is capable of open or closed-loop operation.  A thermal relief valve in the return system protects the system from over-pressurization at shutdown due to thermal expansion of fluid.

The power unit is equipped with a hydraulic reservoir internal continuous filtering system.  This system has a particulate filter and water absorbing filter.  The unit also allows the operator to fill and drain the aircraft reservoirs when testing is completed.  Unit also includes external hose storage and flushing coupling ports.

The power unit includes components to warn the operator of a phase/voltage imbalance, filter change, over-temp and low fluid conditions.  Safety systems include maximum pressure relief, low boost pressure shutdown, over-temp, low and high fluid warnings.
